Ride High Country – 7 Peaks
Victoria's 7 Peaks road cycling challenge. Takes you up the road rides of Hotham, Mt Buffalo, Dinner Plain, Mt Buller & Falls Creek, Lake Mountain & Baw Baw
THE PROBLEM
We were approached by Tourism North-East to build a custom WordPress plugin that would power the Ride High Country website and the mobile App for Victoria’s 7 Peaks Ride. The current process was manual for both the riders and Ride High Country. To verify their ride, the riders had to obtain a stamp on their passport for each ride from store owners. This was putting a massive strain on store owners and inconvenienced cyclists, who would often ride outside of business hours. The goal was to allow riders to register for the 7 Peaks Digital Passport from their mobile device and record their ride at any time of the day.
The Solution
We developed the 7 Peaks Digital Passport, which allowed riders to record their cycling efforts via the Strava application.
The Outcome
Approximately 700 riders registered for the Digital Passport on launch day. The Digital Passport is a huge success, with over 1900 enthusiastic cyclists across Australia participating for the first challenge since launching. The website and mobile App display leadership boards of the participating cyclists. Data can now be extracted for staff to obtain crucial analytics.
